1. Start building the Logistics Service Development Strategy

Carrying out the tasks assigned by the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Industry and Trade began building the Strategy for developing Vietnam logistics services until 2035, with a vision to 2045 to promote improving the competitiveness of logistics businesses, bringing Logistics services develop, creating connections between localities, contributing to promoting production growth, domestic goods circulation and import and export.

The development of a Logistics Services Development Strategy will be the foundation for building mechanisms and policies to create motivation for logistics development.

2. Vietnam Logistics ranks 43rd according to the World Bank’s assessment

According to the World Bank (WB) report announcing the Logistics Performance Index (LPI – Logistics Performance Index) in 2023, Vietnam ranked 43rd, in the group of 5 highest-ranked ASEAN countries. The average annual growth rate of Vietnam’s logistics market reaches 14 – 16%.

Previously, in the most recent ranking announcement in 2018, Vietnam had a spectacular leap from position 64 to position 39. So after 5 years, Vietnam dropped 4 places, but the LPI score of our country has increased from 3.27 (2018) to 3.3 points (2023).

3. Vietnam International Logistics Exhibition was held for the first time

From August 10 to 12, 2023, for the first time in Vietnam, Vietnam International Logistics Exhibition 2023 (VILOG2023) was held in Ho Chi Minh City. The exhibition is organized by the Vietnam Logistics Service Business Association (VLA) and Vinexad Company with the active support of the Import-Export Department and the Trade Promotion Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade). VILOG 2023 exhibition has 354 booths of 256 businesses from 22 countries and territories.

Within the framework of the Exhibition, a series of specialized seminars and discussions provide opportunities to learn more deeply about the logistics services industry, focusing on urgent issues and trends, from smart technology to customs regulations. regulations, import-export competitiveness, cross-border e-commerce, industry human resource training or a breakthrough model in agricultural export.

4. Start and complete many key transportation infrastructure projects

In recent times, the Ministry of Transport has developed and implemented specialized transport plans for the period 2021 – 2030, with a vision to 2050 (including road network planning, road network planning). railway system, master plan to develop the seaport system, master plan to develop the national airport system, inland waterway infrastructure planning) to promote the completion of commercial infrastructure. 5. FIATA Asia-Pacific Region Conference and AFFA Mid-Year Conference

On July 14, 2023, in Da Nang, the Annual Conference of the Asia-Pacific region of the International Federation of Freight Forwarding Associations (FIATARAP) took place, which is an important conference in the series of international conferences. every year of the world logistics industry. The conference was attended by 300 logistics businesses from 50 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed Mr. Ivan Petrov, President of FIATA, to Vietnam to attend the Conference. The Prime Minister asked the Federation to pay attention to strengthening cooperation with Vietnam, support the development of a logistics service development strategy, share vision, thinking, policy advice, and call for investment in infrastructure. logistics, support in human resource training, technology, management, planning, further improving Vietnam’s competitiveness and quality of logistics services towards digital transformation, green transformation, and circular economy , increasingly approaching the advanced level of the region and the world.

6. Many localities announce logistics service development plans

Implement Resolution No. 163/NQ-CP dated December 16, 2022 of the Government on synchronously promoting key tasks and solutions to improve competitiveness and develop Vietnam’s logistics services and promote Implementing Decision No. 221/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, many localities have announced plans to develop logistics services in provinces and cities for the coming period such as Lao Cai, Quang Binh, Da Nang, Gia Lai, Quang Ninh, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Bac Lieu…

Some localities have proactively developed plans and organized conferences to attract investment to develop logistics services in the area, specifically Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Can Tho, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Thanh Hoa, Gia Lai, etc…

7. Promote international cooperation activities on logistics

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has implemented many activities and international cooperation programs, connecting domestic and foreign logistics trade for nearly 125 businesses. These activities have been highly appreciated by many localities and the business community for their usefulness and timeliness and have brought many investment cooperation opportunities in the logistics field in the near future.

8. Announcing the Provincial Logistics Competitiveness Index (LCI)

On November 17, 2023, the Vietnam Logistics Services Business Association (VLA) announced the competitiveness rankings of provinces and cities. Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City topped the ranking of logistics competitiveness, followed by Hai Phong, Binh Duong, Ba Ria – Vung Tau and Hanoi. Some localities with outstanding logistics system characteristics that will be evaluated next time are Vinh Phuc, Quang Ninh, Hung Yen, Thua Thien – Hue, Quang Nam and Khanh Hoa. In addition, there are 5 localities on the expected evaluation list but have not been ranked by the research team because they did not receive complete survey results from logistics service businesses (LSPs), including Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa and Thai Binh.

9. Vietnam Logistics Forum 2023

Vietnam Logistics Forum 2023 will be held for three days December 1-3, 2023 with the theme “Logistics and digital transformation for the Mekong Delta”, chaired by comrade Tran Tuan Anh, Politburo member, Head The Central Economic Committee presides. This is the 11th Forum held with the participation of a large number of delegates from ministries, branches, localities, associations, and businesses.

In addition to the Plenary Session, the Forum also includes thematic sessions and field survey activities at Tan Cang Cai Cui Port, Can Tho Port, Hanh Nguyen Logistics Center, Long An International Port. Exchange and connection activities on the sidelines of the Forum help businesses expand relationships and business opportunities.

10. Southeast logistics development association forum

On September 8, 2023, the Logistics Development Linkage Forum, the driving force for economic growth in the Southeast region, was organized by Business Forum Magazine, Vietnam Logistics Services Business Association (VLA) and Ba Ria Department of Industry and Trade. – Vung Tau coordinated the organization. The forum aims to identify and remove bottlenecks, create favorable conditions for businesses in the Southeast provinces to learn and link to effectively exploit investment resources, facilities, and expand supply networks. service response… Thereby contributing to realizing the goal of developing the Southeast region into a developed region with strong economic potential and a modern economic structure; center of science – technology and innovation, high-tech industry, logistics and international financial center.
